NSV

I didn't want to weigh in this morning because I'm feeling bloated and my monthly friend just arrived this morning and I don't want an increase on the scale to screw up my attitude and how good I'm feeling lately, so I thought today I would post about a few NSV that have happened lately, but first a funny story.

So, my whole family has weight issues and is overweight. I've said before that both my dad and brother had gastric bypass and my mom has a weight problem, but is very happy with who she is and I love her just like she is. She has always been very supportive of me and was happy I was getting the band and thinks it to be an even better choice than Gastric Bypass since it is less risky, adjustable and reversible. Well, she keeps noticing my weight loss and the other day she is like, I think you are getting too thin. How do you stop it when enough is enough?? I just have to laugh!!! Isn't that like a mom to say something like that? I'm 170 pounds and by no means am I too thin!! Even if I loose another 20 pounds, I would be no where near too thin. And I laughed at her and said what would Granny (my grandmother) say if she was here with us? She would say "How much are you going to loose? Are you going to be like one of those movie stars that are skin and bones?" I just laugh. She is just not used to me being on the thinner side, but I count this as a non-scale victory none the less.

Also, for all those Wii Fit banders. You know when you step on to do a body test and then you get you Mii showing you really skinny and it slides up to overweight, then obese, then morbidly obese and you Mii gets fatter and fatter as it slides up? Well, when i first started this journey, my Mii would stop in the beginning of the morbidly obese category. I have now passed up the obese and it stops in the middle of the overweight category. I love that and will be so happy the day it stops in just the normal category, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that. I don't feel you have to fall in the normal category to be a healthy, normal looking person, but it would be nice to get there some day.

I feel great finally!! I'm not sick or get the acid reflux anymore. I get full fast and my fullness lasts a long time. I can eat just about anything I want and my band, on most days, tells me when to stop. My weight loss is not as rapid, but that is fine with me. I have about 10 more pounds to go to get to my goal, then I'll reevaluate, but if it takes me 3 more months to get there. Then that is what it will take. I'm very happy with where i am today and my progress so far.

I got to go now, but if i think of any more NSV i will post again.

Whoo Hooo Great Weigh In Day!!

Today is my official weigh in day and I'm down to 171!!! Yeah!!! It's actually 170.9, but 171 is what I will put down for my stats.

I'm so happy and feel like I'm at a good spot with my band now. I'm not depriving myself at all, in fact, I even had a couple chocolate chip cookies and a handful of Cheetos yesterday. I probably would have been lower had I not done that, but this is good for me. I'm able to eat what I want, just much less and that is what I was looking for. So, I think I've arrived at my sweet spot!! Yeah.

So, when I calculate from my preop weight, that puts me at 51 pounds down and one more pound to go and I'll be at another milestone and in the 160's. I can't wait and am going to work really hard to get there.

I love my band!!!

Holidy Weight Gone!!

I felt skinnier this morning, so I weighed in again and the Wii shows 171.7 pounds. A new all time low and my holiday weekend weight gone. I'm not going to update my blog because my actual weigh in days are Mondays.

Its funny how I can remember when my weight would fluctuate so much and when I hit a new low, it would only be for a short time and it would go up for a while and then down to a new low and up again. Now it seems that the lows seem to stick for the most part. I love that and hope that it is inspiration for those that are going through that rough time when your band is not quite tight enough and your will power really has to kick in. I find now that a little bit fills me and it keeps me satisfied for quite a while. I'm not really snacking much these days, I just don't want to. I do indulge in an ice cream now and again and I am guilty of taking a handful of chips here and there, but I find with my band where it is right now, I can't eat a whole bag of chips if I wanted to. When I cheat my band stops me from overindulging. I love the place I am right now and can't wait until that scale hits in the 160's. I'm so close.

Late Weigh In

So, I decided to step on the Wii this morning and see where my weight is and it is showing a gain of 1 pound. I'm not all upset about it since it has been over a week since my unfill and my lowest weight was when I was basically not eating much at all, so once pound isn't too bad especially since I went through a holiday weekend of wine, and chips and not so good food. I'd say a one pound fluctuation ain't bad.

I'm not going to update my ticker though because I'm going to get this one pound off soon. I just updated my stats.

Great Labor Day Weekend!!

I had a busy Labor Day Weekend. A beach day with friends on Sat, then a pool party on Sun and then another pool party on Monday. It was nice to have plans with friends rather than stay home with nothing to do.

I have an appointment with my doctor to get a fill on Friday, but I think I'm going to cancel. I feel really good and still have plenty of restriction, just no pain and uncomfortableness. Also, I was supposed to get an ultrasound to see about problems with my Gall Bladder because of the pains I was having, but since my unfill, I am no longer having any pain. I think I will cancel that appointment as well, but no one ever got back to me with the details, so maybe I won't have to call.

At the beach, I was laying on my stomach on a boogie board just floating out in the ocean and I could feel my port pushing on the boogie board and now it's a little sore. My port is really starting to be noticeable to me. Not through my bathing suit or anything, I can just really feel it when I put my hand over my stomach. I wonder if it is going to show when I loose a little more weight.

I didn't weigh in on Monday. Just didn't feel like it. Lazy. I will try to weigh in later this week, although, I don't think I will have lost since I am able to eat again. I think it will start coming off slower and I haven't really exercised lately. They cancelled my kickboxing class at the gym!!! :( Now I need to find something else!!! I've just been lazy lately. I really need to get motivated.

I also wanted to say Welcome back to Amy!! I've missed reading your blogs, but glad you had a great time!!!

Feeling Much Better!!

I got my unfill on Monday and here it is Thursday and I'm feeling great. I have energy again, no pain what so ever, no acid reflux and I'm eating good again.

Speaking of eating good again, with the band, I'm constantly worried about how much I eat especially after being so tight. Being tight, I'm trying to eat enough to get enough calories and protein to make sure my body doesn't go into starvation mode and then, now that I am able to eat, I'm thinking is this more than a cup and didn't I just eat two hours ago. I guess it's good to be thinking about what I'm eating. Also, it's hard to get used to eating this much after two months of not enough. Anyway, I'm kind of enjoying eating things I wasn't able to for a long time now.

When I saw the doctor on Monday, I explained that I have pains and where the pains were and the pulling sensation on my sides and he ordered that I get my Gall Bladder looked at and I'm supposed to do that on the 11th I think. Well, now that I'm not too tight, all those pains are gone!!! and now I wonder if I need this ultrasound. I'm concerned about my insurance covering it and all. I asked the director at the Weight Loss Center if it was covered under my after care that I receive free for the year after surgery and she said she thought so. Don' you love answers like that??? She was going to look into it. If it's not, I'm not sure if I'll go ahead with it, since it has seemed to resolve itself with an unfill. I really don't have the money right now to pay for an ultrasound that doesn't seem necessary and I'm pretty sure my insurance will only cover a portion of an ultrasound.

On the weight loss front, I've been eating again, so I was fully expecting to gain a pound or two, which seems to have happened, but I'll weigh in officially on Monday and pray it's only a pound or two.

Now, I have to focus on if I need to see the Doctor on my scheduled Sept 11 visit. He thought I would probably need a slight fill since he took out so much. I'm really afraid of fills now. If I got .5cc, I'd be where I was before I went in for my last fill, which was too tight. Is that my sweet spot??? I don't know, now I need to pay attention to my body and see what I think it needs. As of right now, I'm still feeling good, but I think my band is still recovering. If it stays like this, I'll stay here. If it loosens I just might get a fill. It takes like a month to get an appointment, so I hate to cancel an appointment. I'll just have to wait until it gets closer and see where I am.

I'm going out shopping today. All my shorts are too big and I'd like to get a pair that fit right and look good. Maybe a cheap pair on clearance. I'm in California, so I will definitely be wearing shorts for a while still. Also, I love clothes shopping and I hope to find myself in a smaller size and that will get my spirits way up, not that they already aren't. I'm feeling good and ready to feel even better. Have a great day everyone!!!

Unfill....Yes, Again!!

So, I went to the doctor yesterday. I called him in the morning and explained what I was going through and he thought I needed to come in for an unfill. So, I drove down to the O.C. (about a 1/2 hour drive or so) and told him my ailments and he took out everything and filled me again while drinking and we ended up with -1.0 cc.

I explained my discomfort and and pains and he thinks I need to have my Gal bladder looked at, so we are scheduling an ultrasound for that, but I honestly think I was just too tight 'cause all that pain and discomfort is gone instantly. He explained to me that the band can just tighten up like that and that the esophagus is very sensitive to emotional changes. How does anyone stay at a sweet spot if it's constantly changing? One my year of free fills is over, am I going to be spending a fortune trying to fill and unfill this band??? All the more reason to get to goal before my year is up. I also realize I need to figure out that my sweet spot is going to let me eat more on some days and be a little snug on others, I can't make it super snug or I'll run into problems.

So, I explained that I have an appointment set up with him on the 11th and maybe I need to cancel it and he thought I should keep it. He thinks that I will find this too loose in a few days and will want to come in for a slight fill. So, I'm keeping the appointment, but I am a bit fearful of a fill. However, I was thinking, my last fill was .5cc which was tight but bearable for about 2 months before it tightened up on me. He took out 1.0 cc yesterday, so if I find this too loose in a few days, I'll just have .5cc put in and I'll be where I was before I got this tight fill and maybe that will be my sweet spot and when it tightens up, it won't be too tight.

Anyways, I drank protein drinks after my unfill with no problems, nausea is gone, pain and discomfort is gone, i can burp without a problem and no acid or non-acid reflux. Yeah!!! I was worried my band had slipped, but not worried anymore.

I'll let you know how eating goes today when I start mushes.

Thanks for all your thoughts.
