Christmas is Over :(

I love Christmas time and am always sad when it ends. Had a great Christmas and my kids are still enjoying all of their gifts. They got Xbox 360. They have been wanting it for a couple years now and I keep saying no as they already have several game systems, but Santa brought it this year as a joint gift and they are so excited and they loved it.

On the Band front. I've been trying real hard to stick to the protein drink thing, but I must admit, for Christmas eve and Chritmas, I had some mushie items. I had some mashed potatoes and gravy and made them very mushie and they were delicious and didn't have a problem at all. So, since then, I've been eating a few mushie items here and there and have discovered that milk chocolate is fine. I can suck on it and it turns to liquid. So needless to say, my Christmas eating has not been all that good, but I'm glad to say that I haven't had any pain or discomfort since my unfill. I also am happy to report that I still haven't experienced the Acid Reflux since my unfill. I have noticed my appetie is getting bigger and bigger everyday but I still feel like I have control (the holidays are a bad time to gauge this also with all the candy and food around).

I keep telling myself that all these things are good signs that my band has gone back into place. I sure hope I'm right.

My spirits are much better lately and I'm just hopeful that things will be just fine for me and my band.

I've been reading everyone's posts and so glad everyone had a great holiday and here's to a great 2010 for all of us!! Every year I make the same resolution to loose weight and this year makes me so happy that it's finally happened!!! Thank you Band!!

GOAL!!! Down 62 and Keeping my head up!!!

That's right, I finally made it to goal!!! -62 pounds and weighing in at 160 (159.5 to be exact). I'm thrilled that I made it to goal!! My BMI is like 26 I think. I'm real close to be in the normal weight range.

As far as my band goes, I don't have the insurance I thought I had that covered complications. After fighting with the Dr. office, I was given incorrect information and never asked enough questions about it and basically no paperwork was filled out by me or the office. I'm letting it go, nothing I can do. I did talk to the Dr. about my feeling I was mislead when he called me personally and he is going to work with me and help me through the process.

Anyway, as far as my band goes, as you know it slipped, so we took all the fluid out and I've put myself on a liquid diet to maybe help things along to get it back to where it belongs (fingers crossed). I find myself disecting every single little pull and pain I feel, thinking something is wrong. I find that my appetite is not completly back, but it gets a little more everyday. I think I still feel restriction, but it's hard to be certain when I'm not eating solids. I went to a Cookie exchange party yesterday with friends who don't know about my band and decided I'd taste a few mushie items so I wouldn't be obvious and to see how they feel. Anyway, I had a little hummus and some cheesy dip (i know, not so diet friendly, but that was all i could eat) I loaded my plate with other items so it didn't look funny and sat in a spot where people couldn't watch me eat and then threw my napkin on top of the plate when I was done and no one was none the wiser. I also took a piece of fudge and took tiny little bites and let it melt in my mouth until is was liquid, so i even enjoyed a little dessert. Mashed potatoes is my plan for Christmas dinner along with my protein shake.

Everything I tried (not much at all) went down fine, I didn't even feel any restriction or fullness, but I wouldn't with my band tightened either because it was mushy and such a small amount. Nothing seemed to linger in my pouch or anything. But after the party when I went home, I had some small pulling sensations, wouldn't say pain because it was like a 1 on a scale from 1 to 10, but they worried me. I'm so afraid the band will slip further and it will be an emergency and unbearable pain. I'm also so afraid it won't go back into place and i'll have to have surgery again. I'm afraid of the surgery especially since i was talking to a lady in the Dr. office last week and she said she almost died during surgery, enternal bleeding. I know things like that can always be a risk, but i just didn't think i'd have to go through another surgery. I thought this would be forever. I also know that complications were possible, you just never think it will be you.

Sorry this post is so long....where do i go from here?? I have another appt on the 12th of Jan and we'll do another barrium swallow and see where the band has settled. If it is back in place, I'm going to leave it unfilled and see if I can do this on my own. I've gotten to my goal and hope that with diet and maintenance I can maintain it on my own. During this liquid phase, I hope to loose a little extra to give me some room to fluctuate during the process. I hope I can maintain 160. If I can't, then I might look into a very, very small fill way, way, way down the line and go slow and hope it doesn't slip again. If the Barrium swallow shows the band has not settled back into place, then I guess I have some tough decisions to make, replace it or take it out??? Surgery Again!!!

Sorry my posts are bummers lately, hopefully on the 12th I'll have good news!! Merry Christmas everyone, thank you so much for all your support!! It has been everything to me!!!

Bad News......:(

Hi all...this is a really hard post for me to write and I've been avoiding doing it. As you know I went to the Dr. yesterday for another unfill and he suggested we do a barium swallow. I was happy he suggested it and so I went to another section of the hospital to do that and then went back up to his office and he said the x-rays are difficult to read but it looks like I have a pretty bad slip :(

I questioned the fact that I don't have any pain, that I just complain of the acid reflux that has actually been worse in the past and this is just a little annoying. I said "Doesn't a slip hurt real bad?" He said "Not necessarily". I also explained that I can eat and drink (not a whole lot, but about what a bandster should, i think) and he said that some is going through the slip. I honestly don't know how long it has been like this. I mean I went on a cruise for goodness sake and gained a little while on it. I did have some tight moments but they subsided.

Anyway getting to even worse news. I asked what do we do and he said that we need to do surgery again to replace (and I'm contemplating removing it). I told him that i have heard of people taking the fluid out and it can fix itself. He said we can do that and it will buy us time, but it will most likely slip again.

Even worse, worse news. When I choose this doctor, one of the things that appealed to me was that I was told that he is a Bliss Doctor and all cash pay patients are covered for one year for complications related to the band. My one year is up on the 18th of Jan, so I'm thinking this should be covered under the Bliss insurance. When I mentioned it, he kind of danced around the subject and then said it is usually for only 90 days and then that someone in his office had embezzled money from him back then and dropped the ball somewhere. He is going to have someone check on it an call me, he said to give them a day or two. I'm so pissed off, I'm not holding my breath on the Bliss thing.

I'm a cash pay patient and just can't afford another operation and if I replace it and put it higher on my stomach, I'm worried it will happen again and then I'll need yet another operation in a year that I can't afford or do.

We took all the fluid out and I feel fine, No acid reflux last night, but I felt it wanting to happen. It is better, but I fear that it will slip further and I'll be in pain and tight again without anything to take out. I haven't eaten anything. I asked about my diet now and he just said to go to protein drinks so I don't gain the weight back. I know I can't live on protein drinks, but I'm going to do them for now and if I must eat something, I will eat something mushie so that maybe the band will have a better chance at going back into place.

It doesn't feel like anything has moved yet. It feels looser but the same position.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted when things change. If anyone else has gone through a similar thing, please contact me, I'd love to hear from you.

Hi....Getting an unfill today!!

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Just super busy.

I have a Dr. appointment today and I am getting another unfill. My tightness has been sparadic, but enough to let me know I need more taken out. It's the reflux I hate the most. I'm going to ask for another 1cc and we will see where I am at after that.

Went away for the weekend with some friends to a great timeshare resort out in Newport Beach and it was so much fun even though it rained for the first two days, Sunday was beautiful and we had a nice time just visiting with friends while all our kids played video games and played nicely together. I love when kids just enjoy each other and no fighting occurs. My eating was good this weekend. Just small amounts, but no episodes or getting stuck, a little reflux at night, but not bad.

The medicine I take to get rid of the reflux does work, but it gives me pains in my stomach after about two days in a row, so I don't want to rely on that, just when it gets real bad.

Cross your fingers this unfill works!!

On the weight loss front, I am down to 161.8!!! That's 60 pounds down!! Yeah and practacally to goal!!! Although I would love to loose more. When I weigh in on the Wii, I am at the lower portion of the overweight section. I never ever thought I'd be here!!! I'm not going to shoot for being out of the overweight section, but I would still like to loose a bit more, but if it doesn't happen, that's okay. I just want to get my band in a good spot where I don't have these tightening episodes.

Talk to you all later. I've been reading your blogs and you are all fantastic!!

Busy, Tight, Down...

Okay. So my title will explain most of my blog this morning. I have a lot to say and it's probably because I haven't posted in a while. My Internet was down yesterday, so I didn't post my weight.

My band tightened a bit on me over the last few days. This is something I'm thinking about...my family took me out to dinner for my birthday at a steak restaurant. I used to love steak, medium rare, lots of salt, mmmm....well, I tried to eat it on the cruise and it didn't go down easy and gave me pain and discomfort for an hour or so after I ate it and at my birthday dinner, I tried to go slow and small bites and I only ate about 1/4 of the steak and I had the same feeling. I don't think steak is a good for me anymore. It's funny though, it didn't taste so good either, I don't know if it was not so great steak or just me not loving it anymore since my band. Anyway, the point you say? The next day, I woke up kind of tight and tight throughout the whole day. I took it really easy and had mostly liquids and soup. Yesterday was a lot better, but still a little on the tight side. Same thing happened on the cruise after I ate steak. I'm thinking that when I eat something that has trouble going down, it seems like I tighten up for a few days. I'm still a bit tight, but getting better....worse in the morning and at night. Nothing near as tight as I was back in July or anything.

The good news.....I'm down to my lowest 164!! Yeah....I guess that goes hand in hand with not eating much huh???

A NSV....I went to Costco and they had some Buffalo Jeans on clearance and I need some new jeans. These jeans are by waist measurement and length. I'm so not used to buying clothes that way. I've always bought based on a number size 18. I was never able to fit in the clothes that went by waist and length number. So, I wanted to buy a pair (they were only $19.99, regularly $34.99 at Costso) I, of course, went for the biggest size they had (something I have always done and hoped I could squeeze in) which was a 32 waist by 33 length (I wanted them long to wear with heels, all my jeans shrink in the length and I look like I'm waiting for a flood). Of course, Costco doesn't have dressing rooms which I hate. I put them up to me and they seemed good. Took them home.....way tooooo big. Did you say what? yep, way too big!!! Can you believe that?? I don't know if I should go with a 31 waist or a 30. I think I need to go for the 30. I guess I'm making another trip to Costco today to exchange and hope they still have some 30's and also hope the 30's are not too small once I get home. This is why I don't usually buy clothes from Costco. What a pain in the ass, but how can I pass up a pair of $20 Jeans?

Another NSV....saw some of my family on Thanksgiving who haven't seen me since my Granny's funeral right when I got the band put in and they were like OMG, you look so good, you have lost a ton of weight!!! They don't know about the band unless others have slipped when I'm not around. I don't care though if they were to find out.

Some bad and a bit scary news.....I was in contact recently with a band friend that I met right as I was banded. She had hers done by the same doctor as me and had hers done about a week before I had mine done. Well, she had to have hers removed because of it slipping and she experienced a lot of spontaneous tightness similar to mine, but it seemed a lot worse. I feel sorry for her and a bit scared since I experience similar things as she. After talking with her and after this last bout of tightness, I decided to make an appointment to get another cc taken out. I'm about 1 1/2 months away from my 1 year and my free fills and unfills. I would like to get to a good spot before then. So I'm going to go in on the 15th and have 1 cc taken out and then if it's too much, I will have one more opportunity to have a slight fill before my 1 year Bandiversary.

I have more to say, but have to run. I'll try to post again later.

Weigh in day and up a pound....Not bad!!

Okay, so today was my weigh in day and I weighed in on the Wii and it showed up a pound. Not bad...I'm totally thrilled. I mean, not bad for an eight day cruise!!

I went walking yesterday and plan to go again today. I hope to get through Thanksgiving and my birthday without gaining.

I'm going to try to sit down this week and go over the cruise details. Just wanted to post on my weight status.

I'm Back....

Hi everyone. I'm back from the cruise. We got back today and had the best time. My band cooperated and did it's job while still allowing me to indulge in the delicious foods they had on board. It did tighten up a couple times, but relaxed a bit fairly quickly. I'm not going to weigh in today since it's so late in the day. I'm going to see what I weigh in the morning and then I'll do an official weigh in on Monday. I hope it's not a lot, although I feel a little bloated at the moment, so we'll have to see.

I'll tell you more about the cruise later.....I need to catch up on every one's blogs. Hope everyone had a good week.

The Good News ....and The Bad News!!!

I thought this was funny, but it should read after the cruise you turn back into a dieter!!!
Anyway, about the title of my post!! The good news is my restriction level is great and I loosened up and hope to stay that way until the 19th at least. The bad news is I didn't reach my goal of being 165 by the cruise. I weighed in this morning and was still 167 ( point something gained .5 pounds), so if I gain my allotted five pounds on the cruise I'll be above 170 again. I'll need to try real hard not to do that. Also Aunt Flo is scheduled to come any day now!! Can you believe that??? Oh, well, at least I can count on loosing a little excess water weight huh??
Have a great day....I probably won't post again until I get back......Have a good week ladies (I don't think I have any gentleman looking at my blog) and keep focused!!

Pictures...

Okay. So you know I want to stay completly annonymus, however, I wanted to post my progress because I enjoy seeing other's pictures, so I decided to cut my head out of some before and after pictures so that I could show everyone how far I've come in 55 pound. So here it goes...
Some of my before pictures.....my larges 222 pounds and I'm 5'6" tall.

And some after pictues. I'm almost to my goal of 160 pounds. This is about 170.

3 days and counting and feeling loose.

I'm so glad my band is relaxing a bit. Sorry if I keep posting about the cruise, but I'm just so excited!!! Can't wait!! 3 more days.

We had a birthday sleepover for my now 9 year old son this weekend and had two little boys sleep over. It was fun, we took them to the movies, had pizza and played video games. We all went to bed at about 11 p.m. and then they woke up at 5 am. I was so exhausted yesterday. Tried to nap, but I can never seem to nap during the day unless I'm sick. So on Saturday and Sunday I was eating real good and not feeling tight at all. It was a relaxing birthday party for a change with just two additional kids. I'm a stresser and that is probably why my band tightens so easily with emotional changes as my doctor says. So, since this was so low key and stress free, it seemed my band was doing good. I had some popcorn at the movies and felt like I could eat endless amounts, had a candy bar and a slice of pizza for dinner. I was even able to eat a slice of birthday cake. I know, not a good diet for a bandster, but like I said, when I'm not tight, I really enjoy eating like a normal person, so I go a little overboard.

So yesterday after everyone was gone, I had to run some errands for the cruise and was feeling a little stressed and hadn't been drinking enough water that day and tons of coffee and all of a sudden I felt my band tightening. I can't really explain what it feels like, but I do get a little bit of pain in my back and sometimes at my above my ribs at my bra line. I always have to undo my bra when this happens. Anyway as I was driving home, I realized this was happening and I was stressing myself out thinking about everything that needs to be done before we leave and so when I got home, I drank a glass of water made a cup of tea and drank hot tea and relaxed on the sofa for a bit and tried to destress and it worked. My band loosened up a bit. I decided to have Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner just to give my band a rest and to make up for all the junk I had been eating all weekend and it was fine from that moment on.

I just mention all this because, maybe it is me doing this to myself. I think I need to work on relaxation and maybe meditate daily or do some Yoga classes. I really don't have a very stressful life, it's me, I'm a stresser. I stress over the smallest things. Always have.

So after that long analogy, I've decided I should be loose on the cruise because it is definitely a stress free vacation, that is, I hope excitement doesn't tighten my band. If I tighten, I'll try a massage and that should relax me huh?? I'll have to tell my hubby if I don't get a massage, I'll not be able to eat!! LOL!!

Loosening up....yeah!!

Well, today and yesterday were good days. I seem to be loosenging up a bit, or I should say enough. I was able to eat with good restriction yesterday and today. This gives me such releif. I have been a little bit stressed out and feeling less stress the last few days, so hopefully that it.

Tight Again!

Uuurhhhh....I'm tight again!!! How can that be??? I had two unfills in a row at -2.5 cc in total and I'm still tightening up!! It's not unbearable, but I can't eat much at all, a few bites and it's all over. I might call in today and see if my doctor will be in the office during the next week before we leave and make an appointment just in case. I hope it loosens up!!

With this restriction, I'm sure to get to my mini cruise goal and and maybe not gain during the cruise. Good, but certainly not fun!!!

Exercise...

I finally went to the gym yesterday and started a new class with some of my friends who used to do kickboxing with me. It was a great class. It's called total body workout and she does like 40 min cardo (step and dancing) and then we do like 15 min weight training and like 15 min abs. Something like that, the total class is 1 hr 15 min. I'm pretty sore today, but I love it!! We are trying to commit to going every Tuesday and then I will still walk up the mountain with my friend 2 - 3 times a week. I hope I keep it up.

I weighed in this morning on Wii fit and I'm down to 166!!! I would love to loose that last pound this week and then I would actually hit a goal on schedule. I was hoping to be down to 165 by the cruise and then allow for a five pound weight gain during the cruise. I do hope to keep that in check and not gain, but I will allow five pounds for the sake of having a good time. I know that is probably not so healthy, but I'm just being realistic.

On the band front, I think my band is tightening slightly. Not enough for serious pain or reflux, but yesterday for lunch, I was starving. I waited too long to eat and by the time I did sit down to eat, I was shoving food way too fast and got full really quick. I didn't get sick, just felt overly full to the point of uncomfortableness. Anyway, then dinner was after the gym which was 6:30 (since time change it was like 7:30 to me) and we were all starving once again, so I picked up Weinerschnitzel for dinner and I ate a mustard dog. I pulled off some of the bread and ate mostly the meat and a few Frye's and I'm not sure if it was the hot dog or the speed at which I ate it, but I was feeling a little sick the rest of the evening. All those stomach crunches probably didn't help much either.

I do feel fine today, but I think I'll try my best to eat more mushes and soups today and slow down so that I don't experience what I did yesterday. I need to take care of my band and treat it well so it will treat me nice on the cruise.

Up a bit....Bad Candy!!

Well, I weighed in today after skipping last week and I'm actually up a fraction of a pound, but when I posted last time I was slightly below 167, so I'm really at 167 today. I'm not that upset considering the candy and junk I've been eating the last week or so.

I've decided Halloween candy is Bad!!! I moved it out of sight, so I hope it's not quite as tempting. I dread the upcoming holidays. There is usually sweets and junk all around during the holidays. I'm going to really have to keep things in check. Lucky for me, my hubby has lost like 30 pounds, so he is motivated to keep it off and will help with keeping the junk out of the house. It's also nice because he is into eating meals that are healthy and doesn't complain, which is nice. My kids on the other hand only want junk and it's a fight.

Anyway, have a great week!!

H1N1 Vaccine!!

Oh, forgot to mention and this has nothing to do with weight loss or banding, but I am such a paranoid person and I have my two little boys and we are going to Mexico for that cruise. Would you know I have been so stressed about the kids getting The Swine Flu. Then, I was trying to research the vaccine and you get so much conflicting information it's hard to make a choice as to do it or not. Anyway, we get the seasonal flu shot every year and I saw a show about the vaccine and decided we will do it. Anyway, no one has the shot, but I found a clinic in my neighborhood that had the vaccine in (the shot form, not the nasal form) and me and kids ran over after school on Wednesday. The clinic was going on from 1 -4 and we got there at 3:00 and had to wait 2 1/2 hours, but we all got the shot, even hubby!!! They only had 200 doses and we were like number 180 or something!! I feel so blessed and relieved!!

Just Checking In!!

I haven't blogged much lately because I really don't have anything new to share really. I didn't weigh in on Monday and I'm not sure why, but I think it's because I feel like the scale is going to move up and I just don't want the disappointment. I have been feeling fat and bloated lately, do you know what I mean? It's like I get used to myself at this weight and then I feel fat again. It must be my mind playing tricks with me because my clothes are feeling even looser and I happened to step on the scale in the afternoon yesterday, not my normal morning weigh in, and it said I was 166, but I feel like I've gained. I had to bake cookies for the kids class on Tuesday and had a bunch left over and have been munching on them. I think all the sugar has thrown my body out of sorts or something. The cookies are almost gone and I'm thrilled that the scale showed a loss yesterday. I just hope it still shows the loss on Monday. We'll see.

I've been feeling great and eating just fine with no extreme tightness or anything. I've actually been able to eat quite a lot compared to before. But I'm not overeating either. It feels great!!

I have noticed something and wonder if anyone else ever experiences this. I am sleeping fine and not waking up with acid reflux or anything, but almost every morning, I feel like I have stuff in my pouch, fluid or something and if I don't swallow really carefully and move ever so slowly, it will come up a bit. I think it has to do with laying in a flat position all night long because as soon as I'm up, I'm fine and the feeling is gone. Does anyone else experience this?

Well, I'm off for now. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween. I hope I can handle all that sugar in my house following Halloween!!

My Band Level To Date

Hey all, well this new fill level is actually pretty good since my last unfill. My head thinks I can eat anything since I have had so much taken out, so I went a little wild yesterday (not too bad really, just the wrong things for my band) and my band yelled back a little last night. I met a friend for breakfast and we shared a plate of potatoes, eggs, a 1/2 slice of sourdough bread. I didn't finish everything. Then we shopped and before we knew it, it was lunch time and she said we could sit down and have a salad or something or we could have a pretzel and my head said "pretzel, yeah, I haven't had one in ages" so I had a pretzel with Jalapeno Cheese sauce. It was so yummy, I couldn't finish all of it, but 3/4 of it was finished. Anyway later that day at dinner time, I still wasn't hungry and feeling a little sore in the band area. Like my muscles around my band are just over worked (does anyone get this feeling??). Of course, when I cook for my family, I want to eat, so I had a little bit of Chicken Noodle Soup. I feel fine this morning and the sore muscle thing is almost gone. I think breads are just not in the cards for me and I love them so much, or maybe I just had a little too much of them yesterday. I think the pretzel over did it.

So the point of the title of my blog was to go back through my blog and figure out just how much of a fill I have in my band, so I did just that. I figured out I have about 5.5 to 6.0 cc in my band right now. The slight discrepancy is that at my first unfill, I should have had 9.5cc and when the doctor took it all out it showed 9.0cc and I'm not sure if some was left in or it was in the tubing from the port to the band or what, but I should be at about 5.5 to 6.0. I think this will be good so far and hope it doesn't tighten up. I thought I'll be sooo loose that I could eat everything and anything and I was going to have to really diet to not gain, but it's really not that loose. Quite right as long as it doesn't tighten up again. Every time I ask my doctor, he says the band responds to my emotions, he has no real explination. I say does that mean I'm a very emotional person? And he just smiles and says we can't control our emotions. I don't think of myself as an emotional person, but maybe I keep it inside and it just effects my band. Hmmmm? I will never know. Anyway, so weird that at one time my band was actually up to 8cc and I needed a fill because I could eat everything and anything and today I'm at 5.5/6.0 and still have a ton of restriction. I guess I'm just not the normal banster, but I still love my band and could have never done it without him/her.

Have a great weekend!!

Got Some Taken Out!!

So I had my appointment yesterday at the Dr. and told him my desire to have about .5cc taken out and that I was in about 6 weeks ago and had 1cc taken out and was fine for about a month and then that darn band tightened. By the way, my band had just started loosening up just a bit a day or two before my appointment, but it was still too tight and needed some taken out (I didn't tell him that). So, he took out .5cc and then I started to drink the water and it felt fine, but then again water doesn't give me a problem. I can feel the water kind of collect and then go down, like it's going into a funnel. Do you know what I mean?

Well, I explained this to the Dr. and told him that I thought this would be good and he explained that he thinks that water shouldn't collect, it should go right down and he convinced me to take another .5cc out for a full 1cc out of the band. If I wasn't going on a cruise, I don't think I would have done it, but in this situation, I decided to do it. So, we took out another 1cc. I don't even know how much is in there now!!

I was very nervous thinking I'd eat everything in site. I was definitely feeling more hungry last night and today. I drank my usual shake this morning, then at about 12:30 I was starving and had a bean and cheese burrito from El Pollo Loco and got full before I finished. Then for dinner tonight we went out to eat at Marie Calendars (didn't feel much like cooking all day evidently). I ordered 1/2 sandwich, cup soup and some fries. I ate about 1/2 of the 1/2 of sandwich, about 5 spoon fulls of soup and about 5 fries and was so stuffed, I couldn't eat another bite. Oh, I did start with a small slice of Corn Bread. So, all in all, I think I did well and my band is defiantly working!! But here's the best part, no pain, no uncomfortableness, no reflux, just fullness. This is the way it is supposed to be. I will cross my fingers I stay just like this and the cruise will be fine and I might not gain much weight either.

Down Another Pound!!!

I stepped on the Wii today and it showed 167 (actually 166. something), but I'm going to round to 167. I must say, I am feeling much better the last few days. No more super tight feeling, my monthly visitor is gone and I'm able to eat again. I am, however, still thinking I should get a slight unfill tomorrow to prepare for the cruise. I can't help but feel that this same thing is going to happen just before the cruise when my monthly visitor comes again. I would wait until it happens, but I can never get an appointment with the doctor. I think I'll ask him to take out .5 cc. I know I'll probably be complaining that I am hungry and can eat anything, but I'll take it just so I can feel good and enjoy this cruise.

Anyway, I'm going to update my weight loss to show my extra pound. Hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend.

Feeling Better...

You know how I've been extra tight lately??? Well, yesterday morning I woke up and felt a little better and for dinner I was able to eat a taco and a little rice without much discomfort. I was extremely full and probably shouldn't have eaten the whole thing, but it just tasted so darn good!! Anyway, today I felt looser again, I went to lunch with my mom and had a small piece of salmon (couldn't eat the whole thing) and some mashed potatoes, but no discomfort after eating anymore. Hmmmm.......... then low a behold, today my monthly visitor made an appearance. I still am not quite convinced that I tighten up before my period, because it didn't happen like that last time (I don't think) but quite a coincidence huh??

Well, I hope the tightness is on the down swing, but I still think I should get a slight unfill since I will be on the cruise in exactly 1 month and that will put me right about my time of the month yet again!!!

NSV

Here is a great NSV that occured the other day.

We went to a Halloween store to look for costumes for the kids and I think hubby and I are going to an adult party this year. Anyone ever have trouble finding a halloween costume??? I could never even think of fitting in a regular size and then when I would try the plus sizes, they never fit right either. I think that the people who make Halloween costumes have no clue of the real sizes of American Adults, they all run super small. Right???

Well, we are tying to be a matching couple, so hubby say what about me a Dr. and you a nurse. Well, there were two nurses costumes, slutty nurse and nurse that was like a Dr. Jacket made into a dress type thing. Anyway, hubby would have loved for me to be slutty nurse, but I draw the line. I did try it on and low and behold it zipped up!!! A regular large (not plus) fit me, very tight, but I think it was supposed to be. It zipped up. I would never, however, wear it anywhere. Way too slutty. The other costume fit fine, even a little big, but just ugly. A cheap overpriced costume, so the search continues. Also, we are not going to purchase anything until we know for sure we are going.

But the point of this long post is that fitting into packaged halloween costumes is definately a big NSV!!! Yeah!!!

FOUND IT!!!

The Wii remote that is!!! Yeah, it's been almost two weeks since I last weighed in on the wii and I reached my short term goal I had set on it. It shows me at 168 as I posted yesterday, so it wasn't a lie, although, my bathroom scale shows me at 167 today (- another pound), but we'll keep as is.

I made an appointment to see my doctor next Tuesday for an unfill. So, with a week of soft food and mushies, I'll hopfully be loosing steadily and maybe be at my goal of 165 by the cruise. That's only 3 pounds away and the cruise is exactly four weeks away from today!! Yeah. I'm going on an 8 day cruise, how much weight do you think I will gain on a 8 day cruise??? I'm hoping no more than 5 pounds and my hubby loves to work out at the gym when we go on cruises, so I'm going to try to do that with him to help with the excess calories I'll be eating.

New All Time Low!!!

So, I never found the Wii remote. Oh, well, I weighed myself on my regular bathroom scale and it shows 168, so I'm going to use the old bathroom scale until that damn remote is found or we buy a new one.

168, I met a new goal!! Yeah!!

I'm still pretty tight and not eating so much, but its good. I think I will schedule myself an appointment for an unfill. I will get a little taken out before the cruise. I find the gas really hard to deal with. Once I eat something, as it tries to get through the pouch, it's like the gas has no way to escape from my stomach and it causes a lot of discomfort for me, that is the only thing going on this time. I also find I have always gotten tighter at night and in the morning, so if I eat something too heavy in the evening, It seems to stay around and give me a little trouble while I'm sleeping. I don't have Acid Reflux, which is great. I'm not real hungry most the time.

Funny thing, yesterday we were out and about looking for Halloween Costumes and everyone was hungry, so we said let's go to In-and-Out. I love that place and I usually get the cheeseburger with grilled onions protein style (which means no bun but wrapped in lettuce). I've been eating it that way for a long time and loving it. Well, yesterday, it didn't taste good to me at all and after eating about 1/2 of the burger, I was getting full and decided to just stop eating since I wasn't even enjoying it. The fries tasted great still!!

Well, gotta go. I'm totally happy about the scale moving for me yeah!!

Hi

I haven't posted in a while and thought I'd check in and let you know what's going on with me. As you know, I had scheduled a fill for this past Tuesday, which I called to cancel (Thank Goodness) because I found my restriction and it got even tighter on me. I don't understand my band sometimes. I'm finding myself with a little discomfort after most meals that are not mushie or liquid. I think it's gas, so I take the gas-ex, but it doesn't seem to let the gas exit. I can drink fine, so I know it's not that I'm stuck or anything. I think I'm just super sensitive and am thinking if things don't improve in a week or so, I might go in for another slight unfill.

The thing that I can't figure out with my band is my last appointment was like a month ago and I had 1cc taken out (not sure how much is in there at this point) and he thought I'd be back in a week for a fill. I never went in because I felt fine where I was, so a month in, I tightened up. Weird isn't it??? I think the same thing happened the appointment before this. I think I had a slight fill and then a month in, it tightened up. This time, though, it tightened up a month after an unfill.

Anyway, like I said, no worries, I'm feeling fine, eating fine, just a little discomfort and I can defiantly feel that I have a lot of restriction right now.

I'm mostly thinking of the upcoming cruise and don't want to be too tight for that. With all the excitement and change of environment, my band is sure to do some strange things.

On the weight loss front. I still can't find that damn Wii remote, but my bathroom scale showed 169 yesterday and 170 today. I'm not sure how reliable that is, but that would put me at my next big goal!! I'm determined to find that remote this weekend so I can weigh in on Monday.

Frustrated....

I'm not really frustrated because the scale isn't moving.....I know it's because I've been exercising and I'm not frustrated because I'm sitting at around 170 and oh so close to being in the 160's and the scale is stuck. No, I'm not frustrated because of that.

I'm frustrated because today is my weigh in day and although I have a analog scale in my bathroom that I use regularly (it's not the most accurate but gives me an idea if I'm up or down) when I weigh in, It's always on the trusty wii Fit and the remotes have gone missing and nowhere to be found (I'm sure I can thank my two little boys) so I can not weigh in today. I'm hoping they get found soon so I can update my weigh in.

I have been keeping to my exercise commitment this week, I walked the mountain early on Sat and I'm going again this evening. I hope to do some sort of exercise everyday this week except maybe Friday. I'm also getting my kids in on the action, they are going to start walking the mountain with me on Mondays and then we will do some sort of family exercise on Thursdays and their school has a new exercise program in place where they are required to make the kids do 45 minutes of exercise three times a week, so this is sooo good for them and I'm glad they are getting in the physical exercise they need too.

Have a great Monday!!

I'm Not Going To Get A Fill!!

Okay, I decided I'm going to cancel my appointment for Tuesday and not get a fill. I'm too scared of screwing myself up before the cruise and having a miserable time and being sick like I was for my two Vegas Trips this summer.

I feel like I have decent restriction, could be slightly tighter, but I'll play with that after the cruise. On some days, I feel like I can eat a whole lot and other days, I get full pretty quickly, all normal stuff for us bandsters. I've been exercising and I'm 10 pounds away from my goal weight I set before surgery. I'm going to work really hard and would love to drop five more pounds before the cruise and I know I'm probably going to gain during the cruise. I'd like to give myself 5 pounds to gain and then go get a fill after the cruise and loose that last 10.

Anyway, today I was going to take a class at the gym, but I'm too sore, so we are going to go on a long bike ride as a family this evening instead.

I'm going to do a little shopping this morning......my favorite thing to do.

Ouch...I'm soooo sore!!

I don't know if I mentioned before, but my gym discontinued the Kickboxing Class I used to love to do with my friends and since then, my friends, nor I have not been back for a class together and my groove is off. They keep telling me we need to try another class and we all keep saying yeah, yeah and never do it. So, yesterday, I decided I would try this new step class at the same time and invited my friends and they made excuses as to why they couldn't (that's okay) so I went alone. The teacher was very glad to see me again and asked where I had been. The class was sooooo hard. It did a lost of step aerobics and she incorporates weights and then does about 10 min of abs at the end. This class is an intermediate to advanced class, not for beginners and I was super happy that I was able to keep up. When I was grabbing my weights and steps and stuff at the beginning of class, I asked a couple ladies what size weights we needed and they said they had been doing the class for a month now and they still think it's super hard and that I could just step in place if I can't keep up. Well, I kept up good and at the end one of the ladies said "wow!! You did great!".

So, this week I have been doing a lot of exercise:

Sat Walking the Mountain (3miles)
Monday Zumba & Walking the Mountain
Tuesday Step Class
Wed I'm going to walk the mountain again

I'm going to keep it up....I am so sore from that class & I love it.

Exercise...

I've been doing good with my exercising so far this week and hope to continue to stay committed. I went up that mountain 1 mile up hill two miles downhill, on Saturday, then Monday, I went to the gym to try the new Zumba class (fun but not a great workout) and I also went up the mountain again yesterday on top of my Zumba class. Today I plan to do a Circuit Training class this evening at the gym and maybe the gym again tomorrow.

After reading everyone posts about frustrating weight loss after starting exercise, I'm prepared for my weight loss to stall a bit once I start the exercising, but look forward to when it starts coming off again.

I have an appointment for next Tues to see my doctor. I'm still trying to decide if I need a fill or not. I'm defiantly finding myself eating late at night, not a good thing, but I'm going to sit on it for a week and make my decision.

I bought myself another pair of jeans. I couldn't pass them up, a size 10 Calvin Klein Jeans. They are really cute and stylish and a size 10, yeah!!!

Weigh In Day

Today is my official weigh in day and I skipped last week so here I am today weighing in at the same weight 171. I'm not upset though because I think I had gained a bit and then lost it again over the last two weeks, so no gain is great!!

I keep saying I need to focus on exercise and I keep not doing it so much. I mean, I have been walking with my friend up this hill where I live and it's quite difficult, but I've been slacking and didn't really do it at all last week. We did get up early on Saturday and walk up the hill (takes about 1/2 to get up and 1/2 to get down), but I need to be more consistent. I think I'll go to the gym today and do a class.

Maybe Eating Too Much

Okay, so the last couple of days, I've been eating quite a bit and getting hungry late at night. I must tell you though, I'm loving being able to eat after not being able to for such a long time. I am, however, very, very afraid of Monday, my weigh in day and also fearful of the thought of another fill. I know that I tend to fluctuate, so I'm going to give it a few more days and see how my band is doing. Maybe I'll make an appointment for a fill since it seems to take a month before I can get an appointment and then I can always cancel.

Here is my other fear. You know how much trouble I've had with being too tight and all?? Well our cruise is on November 11th and I do not want to be sick and miserable while on the cruise, so what to do??? what to do???

Yesterday, I had my usual breakfast protein drink, about a cup of rice and could have had more, (shhh... don't tell anyone, but I had some ice cream too) and for dinner, I almost finished two tacos and I was snacking late at night last night because I was starving.... I've been a bad bandster the last few days and I'm sure the scale will remind me on Monday.

Well, I have Bunco tonight (all kinds of yummy things to eat) and then a girls night out to dinner and a movie tomorrow night, so lets see if my band will kick in and keep me on track.

I think I will make an appointment for a fill and play everything else by ear. I really hope that she tightens up just a bit so I don't need a fill before the Cruise and then I'll tighten her up right afterwards.

Another NSV

Yesterday when I was posting NSV, I forgot to mention one. I found this great little store near my house, it doesn't have fancy clothes, but really inexpensive clothes. I used to go in there when I was a teenager, but stopped because they only had regular sizes and they ran kind of small because they are not fancy designer type clothing. Well, I didn't have a lot of money this week, but found myself in need of some clothes, I'm always in need of clothes and it makes me feel good too. Anyway, I went in and found a really cute strapless top.

I'm going to go off on a tangent, I am kind of large chested and have never been able to find a strapless bra that is comfortable and works for me, well I found two a few weeks ago and bought them, so I've started considering tops and dresses that I never would have in the past because I have these great new strapless bras. Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned this (probably have, I tend to repeat myself...sorry) but we are going on a cruse in November and feel this need to find summer clothing now before it's too late.

Anyway, going back to my shopping, I also got a very cute bathing suit cover up and a pair of Old Navy Jeans size (drum roll.....) 10!! And they are not tight. I got the jeans for $5.99...can you believe that??? The cute top too!!! I love great shopping like that!!

So, there are two new NSV....Yeah!!!!

Oh, one more shopping NSV. Kohls had this great sale the other day and I had a $10 off coupon and a 20% off coupon, so I went in and found a pair of boots that zip up to just below my knee. This is a momentous thing because I have such big calves, that I have always had to buy the kind of boots that stop at the ankle because I can never get boots to zip up over my calves. The last pair of boots that I had that zipped up to the knee was when I was about 8 years old. Well, I went and tried on several pair and they all zipped, so I just had to make a decision as to which ones I wanted to get. I got a cute black pair that will be great this winter. I have always wanted a pair of boots like that and am so glad I can finally wear them this winter.

Hope everyone has some NSV this week!!

NSV

I didn't want to weigh in this morning because I'm feeling bloated and my monthly friend just arrived this morning and I don't want an increase on the scale to screw up my attitude and how good I'm feeling lately, so I thought today I would post about a few NSV that have happened lately, but first a funny story.

So, my whole family has weight issues and is overweight. I've said before that both my dad and brother had gastric bypass and my mom has a weight problem, but is very happy with who she is and I love her just like she is. She has always been very supportive of me and was happy I was getting the band and thinks it to be an even better choice than Gastric Bypass since it is less risky, adjustable and reversible. Well, she keeps noticing my weight loss and the other day she is like, I think you are getting too thin. How do you stop it when enough is enough?? I just have to laugh!!! Isn't that like a mom to say something like that? I'm 170 pounds and by no means am I too thin!! Even if I loose another 20 pounds, I would be no where near too thin. And I laughed at her and said what would Granny (my grandmother) say if she was here with us? She would say "How much are you going to loose? Are you going to be like one of those movie stars that are skin and bones?" I just laugh. She is just not used to me being on the thinner side, but I count this as a non-scale victory none the less.

Also, for all those Wii Fit banders. You know when you step on to do a body test and then you get you Mii showing you really skinny and it slides up to overweight, then obese, then morbidly obese and you Mii gets fatter and fatter as it slides up? Well, when i first started this journey, my Mii would stop in the beginning of the morbidly obese category. I have now passed up the obese and it stops in the middle of the overweight category. I love that and will be so happy the day it stops in just the normal category, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that. I don't feel you have to fall in the normal category to be a healthy, normal looking person, but it would be nice to get there some day.

I feel great finally!! I'm not sick or get the acid reflux anymore. I get full fast and my fullness lasts a long time. I can eat just about anything I want and my band, on most days, tells me when to stop. My weight loss is not as rapid, but that is fine with me. I have about 10 more pounds to go to get to my goal, then I'll reevaluate, but if it takes me 3 more months to get there. Then that is what it will take. I'm very happy with where i am today and my progress so far.

I got to go now, but if i think of any more NSV i will post again.

Whoo Hooo Great Weigh In Day!!

Today is my official weigh in day and I'm down to 171!!! Yeah!!! It's actually 170.9, but 171 is what I will put down for my stats.

I'm so happy and feel like I'm at a good spot with my band now. I'm not depriving myself at all, in fact, I even had a couple chocolate chip cookies and a handful of Cheetos yesterday. I probably would have been lower had I not done that, but this is good for me. I'm able to eat what I want, just much less and that is what I was looking for. So, I think I've arrived at my sweet spot!! Yeah.

So, when I calculate from my preop weight, that puts me at 51 pounds down and one more pound to go and I'll be at another milestone and in the 160's. I can't wait and am going to work really hard to get there.

I love my band!!!

Holidy Weight Gone!!

I felt skinnier this morning, so I weighed in again and the Wii shows 171.7 pounds. A new all time low and my holiday weekend weight gone. I'm not going to update my blog because my actual weigh in days are Mondays.

Its funny how I can remember when my weight would fluctuate so much and when I hit a new low, it would only be for a short time and it would go up for a while and then down to a new low and up again. Now it seems that the lows seem to stick for the most part. I love that and hope that it is inspiration for those that are going through that rough time when your band is not quite tight enough and your will power really has to kick in. I find now that a little bit fills me and it keeps me satisfied for quite a while. I'm not really snacking much these days, I just don't want to. I do indulge in an ice cream now and again and I am guilty of taking a handful of chips here and there, but I find with my band where it is right now, I can't eat a whole bag of chips if I wanted to. When I cheat my band stops me from overindulging. I love the place I am right now and can't wait until that scale hits in the 160's. I'm so close.

Late Weigh In

So, I decided to step on the Wii this morning and see where my weight is and it is showing a gain of 1 pound. I'm not all upset about it since it has been over a week since my unfill and my lowest weight was when I was basically not eating much at all, so once pound isn't too bad especially since I went through a holiday weekend of wine, and chips and not so good food. I'd say a one pound fluctuation ain't bad.

I'm not going to update my ticker though because I'm going to get this one pound off soon. I just updated my stats.

Great Labor Day Weekend!!

I had a busy Labor Day Weekend. A beach day with friends on Sat, then a pool party on Sun and then another pool party on Monday. It was nice to have plans with friends rather than stay home with nothing to do.

I have an appointment with my doctor to get a fill on Friday, but I think I'm going to cancel. I feel really good and still have plenty of restriction, just no pain and uncomfortableness. Also, I was supposed to get an ultrasound to see about problems with my Gall Bladder because of the pains I was having, but since my unfill, I am no longer having any pain. I think I will cancel that appointment as well, but no one ever got back to me with the details, so maybe I won't have to call.

At the beach, I was laying on my stomach on a boogie board just floating out in the ocean and I could feel my port pushing on the boogie board and now it's a little sore. My port is really starting to be noticeable to me. Not through my bathing suit or anything, I can just really feel it when I put my hand over my stomach. I wonder if it is going to show when I loose a little more weight.

I didn't weigh in on Monday. Just didn't feel like it. Lazy. I will try to weigh in later this week, although, I don't think I will have lost since I am able to eat again. I think it will start coming off slower and I haven't really exercised lately. They cancelled my kickboxing class at the gym!!! :( Now I need to find something else!!! I've just been lazy lately. I really need to get motivated.

I also wanted to say Welcome back to Amy!! I've missed reading your blogs, but glad you had a great time!!!

Feeling Much Better!!

I got my unfill on Monday and here it is Thursday and I'm feeling great. I have energy again, no pain what so ever, no acid reflux and I'm eating good again.

Speaking of eating good again, with the band, I'm constantly worried about how much I eat especially after being so tight. Being tight, I'm trying to eat enough to get enough calories and protein to make sure my body doesn't go into starvation mode and then, now that I am able to eat, I'm thinking is this more than a cup and didn't I just eat two hours ago. I guess it's good to be thinking about what I'm eating. Also, it's hard to get used to eating this much after two months of not enough. Anyway, I'm kind of enjoying eating things I wasn't able to for a long time now.

When I saw the doctor on Monday, I explained that I have pains and where the pains were and the pulling sensation on my sides and he ordered that I get my Gall Bladder looked at and I'm supposed to do that on the 11th I think. Well, now that I'm not too tight, all those pains are gone!!! and now I wonder if I need this ultrasound. I'm concerned about my insurance covering it and all. I asked the director at the Weight Loss Center if it was covered under my after care that I receive free for the year after surgery and she said she thought so. Don' you love answers like that??? She was going to look into it. If it's not, I'm not sure if I'll go ahead with it, since it has seemed to resolve itself with an unfill. I really don't have the money right now to pay for an ultrasound that doesn't seem necessary and I'm pretty sure my insurance will only cover a portion of an ultrasound.

On the weight loss front, I've been eating again, so I was fully expecting to gain a pound or two, which seems to have happened, but I'll weigh in officially on Monday and pray it's only a pound or two.

Now, I have to focus on if I need to see the Doctor on my scheduled Sept 11 visit. He thought I would probably need a slight fill since he took out so much. I'm really afraid of fills now. If I got .5cc, I'd be where I was before I went in for my last fill, which was too tight. Is that my sweet spot??? I don't know, now I need to pay attention to my body and see what I think it needs. As of right now, I'm still feeling good, but I think my band is still recovering. If it stays like this, I'll stay here. If it loosens I just might get a fill. It takes like a month to get an appointment, so I hate to cancel an appointment. I'll just have to wait until it gets closer and see where I am.

I'm going out shopping today. All my shorts are too big and I'd like to get a pair that fit right and look good. Maybe a cheap pair on clearance. I'm in California, so I will definitely be wearing shorts for a while still. Also, I love clothes shopping and I hope to find myself in a smaller size and that will get my spirits way up, not that they already aren't. I'm feeling good and ready to feel even better. Have a great day everyone!!!

Unfill....Yes, Again!!

So, I went to the doctor yesterday. I called him in the morning and explained what I was going through and he thought I needed to come in for an unfill. So, I drove down to the O.C. (about a 1/2 hour drive or so) and told him my ailments and he took out everything and filled me again while drinking and we ended up with -1.0 cc.

I explained my discomfort and and pains and he thinks I need to have my Gal bladder looked at, so we are scheduling an ultrasound for that, but I honestly think I was just too tight 'cause all that pain and discomfort is gone instantly. He explained to me that the band can just tighten up like that and that the esophagus is very sensitive to emotional changes. How does anyone stay at a sweet spot if it's constantly changing? One my year of free fills is over, am I going to be spending a fortune trying to fill and unfill this band??? All the more reason to get to goal before my year is up. I also realize I need to figure out that my sweet spot is going to let me eat more on some days and be a little snug on others, I can't make it super snug or I'll run into problems.

So, I explained that I have an appointment set up with him on the 11th and maybe I need to cancel it and he thought I should keep it. He thinks that I will find this too loose in a few days and will want to come in for a slight fill. So, I'm keeping the appointment, but I am a bit fearful of a fill. However, I was thinking, my last fill was .5cc which was tight but bearable for about 2 months before it tightened up on me. He took out 1.0 cc yesterday, so if I find this too loose in a few days, I'll just have .5cc put in and I'll be where I was before I got this tight fill and maybe that will be my sweet spot and when it tightens up, it won't be too tight.

Anyways, I drank protein drinks after my unfill with no problems, nausea is gone, pain and discomfort is gone, i can burp without a problem and no acid or non-acid reflux. Yeah!!! I was worried my band had slipped, but not worried anymore.

I'll let you know how eating goes today when I start mushes.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

Quick Update and -50!!!

So, I'm going to call the doctor today and try and get in today and see him, even if I have to drive out to the O.C. I sure hope he is working today!!

I've had a really horrible weekend with my band. I'm feeling much better today and I did discover that a lot of the pain and discomfort I'm feeling is gas. I have been taking a lot of gas-x and it makes me burp and I feel instant relief. I don't know why this happens, but every time I eat, I get bad pains about 1/2 hour later and I've discovered its gas and for some reason it can't get out. Maybe because I'm too tight.

Yesterday morning, whenever I tried to eat, I felt nausea, even my morning protein drink made me feel nausea, but I got it down and had a couple more protein drinks yesterday since I wasn't eating. I'm able to drink water and stuff with no problem, so I'm not dehydrated. I'm doing fine with this morning's protein drink. Last night was great. Slept good and no pain after I took that gas-x.

Anyway, I'll let you know how the doctor's apt goes once I get a hold of him this morning. It's still too early as they don't open until 9 am.

On the weight loss front, I lost 2 more pounds, so I'm down 50 and down to 172. Two more pounds away from my next mini-goal and 10 pounds from goal weight. Yeah!!!

Spoke Too Soon.

Okay all, I spoke too soon. My band just tightened up again. Not exactly sure why, just finicky I guess. I have been taking it easy today. Had protein shake for breakfast, soup for lunch with mom at Olive Garden, then a protein smoothie for dinner. I woke up with a little bit of an acidy stomach and had an incident today where i tried to burp and acidy throw up came up my throat. Sorry if TMI!!! My throat was burning for a bit, but I drank some water, ate an antacid and haven't had the problem since. I think I've learned that if I say something on my blog, the opposite usually happens. At this point, I think I'm going to have an unfill on the 11th and I'm looking forward to feeling better. I get these little pains (maybe a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10) on my sides and sometimes my port is a little tender and I get like a pulling sensation from my insides. Does anyone else experience this from time to time??? I can usually reposition myself and it gives some relief and it comes and goes. Anyway. I'm feeling a little down today because I'm just not feeling myself.

Not As Tight.

Hi all. I've been loving reading your blogs. Looks like everyone is doing so good!!!

Remember my theory on getting tight when I am about to start??? Well, I can throw that one out the window. I started today and the last three days, I finally started to loosen up a bit. It's actually a relief. If I stay like this, I think I'll cancel that appointment for the 11th, but I'll wait until it gets closer. It's been so nice to finally be able to eat things again, however, with my period came a craving for sweets and sugar and I have been over indulging, my mom made cookies and it was the first day I was able to eat better, so I had a few spoonfuls of cookie dough (I just can't resist) and about 9 cookies over the course of two days or so. I also made cookie dough at home (big mistake) I planned to make cookies for the kids, but didn't get a chance and I keep dipping into that cookie dough. I'm going to bake the cookies today when they get home from school so that we can eat them up and they will be gone!!! Gone I say!!! The kids started school yesterday and I can always remember a time when my mom was laid off her job and she was home when we got home from school and she would bake cookies often and the whole house would smell like cookies. A great childhood memory for me, so I want to do that for the kids, just have to get to baking today.

Anyway. I didn't weigh in yesterday because I'm about to start and don't want to be discouraged by my menstrual weight, so I'm going to put it off until next Monday and hope to get off these sweets by then. I'm still eating good, just no hurting or pain or reflux. I love it!!!

I guess I better be on my way, have to pick up the kids in a few minutes. Have a great week!!

Hi!!

Last night I went to a birthday dinner party and they had great authentic Mexican food. I was a little nervous about eating because I'm super tight and no one at the party knows about my band. So I served myself some beans, rice, salad and a bit of pork. I ate the rice beans and salad, but the pork seemed to tough to go down smooth. Everything was fine and I had a lot of water about an hour after, so I know everything passed through my pouch, but I got bad reflux again last night and tons of acid again this morning.

I decided that I should at least call and make an appointment to see the Dr. as sometimes it takes a while to get in to see him. Good thing I did, I can't get in until Sept 11th. So, I decided I am loosing weight consistently right now and the acid reflux comes and goes depending on what and how late I eat. It's only when I sleep and nothing too serious and I've had it before when it was constantly throughout the day the last couple times I was too tight. Anyway, I'm going to continue as I am and hopefully I'll loosen up some and be able to cancel my appt. Otherwise, if its still the same, I think I might get some taken out.

So, wish me well that I drop a ton more weight and then my band just loosens on its own.

Let me tell you some NSV:

I have these formal dresses in my closet from weddings that I have been in (2 to be exact) and I tried them on before surgery and both couldn't zip all the way up and what did zip was really tight. Both dresses were from after my first child when I was larger but got even bigger. Well, yesterday I decided to try them on and they both were too big. They look terrible now. I can pull like 2 inches away from my body when the zipper is all the way up. I couldn't believe it. I guess this means that my weight is somewhere around pre pregnancy right now. OMG!!!

I gave away a lot of my clothes I was holding onto from teenage years. I guess I thought, I'll never be there again why keep them. It always depressed me anyway, but I did save a pretty negligee from my wedding night and my Boustie (spelling???) from my wedding dress. I tried on the negligee and it fits, a little tight and my body hangs in different spots than it did back then, so I don't think it will ever fit the same, but it fits and the Boustie I can clasp some of the clasps but not all. That is my next NSV to fit completely in that again.

I love my band even when its hugging me tight!!! :) Have a great day!!

My Wild Girls Night Out!!

So I have to post about this girls night out I had recently. I have always been a girl who likes to drink socially and you all know I like to do Happy Hour, well when I was larger, I could drink all night long and never go overboard. Well, things have changed and it's very hard to change my ways. About 4 of my good friends and I decided to get together and go to happy hour at a local place. We ordered food, so we weren't drinking on an empty stomach or anything and I had a Screwdriver and then tasted one of these great fruity Martini's that tasted like a Jolly Rancher. Well, needless to say, I don't really know exactly how many of those I had (maybe 3 over the course of 5 hours) and I was way over served. This happened to me one other time at a 4th of July party at my brother-in-laws and I literally had 1 glass of wine and two fancy Red, white and blue drinks and I was drunk.

I've come to realize that it's because of my weight loss (I know, duh!!) I'm not able to tolerate nearly as much alcohol as I used to be and I need to go real slow or it hits me quick. Anyone else figure this out??? Or am I just a lush??? It's sort of like getting used to eating less and slow, drinking needs to be less and slow as well and the band doesn't remind you that you need to slow down. I figure it out when it's too late.

Anyway, we did have a good time and we had my friends boyfriend come and drive us all home. Everyone of us went overboard by the way, so I wasn't the only one, but when I was 45 pounds heavier this wouldn't have happened.

46 Pounds Lost *** Yeah!!!

Yep that's right, I weighed in today, my usual weigh-in day and I'm down 46 pounds, but I love to document the milestone numbers, so I posted a picture of 45 pounds lost. I really can't believe it, but it has been a really tight week or so.
I am not able to eat very much and trying to stick to liquids for a few days to give my band a rest. I ate 1/4 of an In-N-Out Protein (no bun, wrapped in lettuce) burger the other night and it gave me a rough time, so I was doing a lot of liquids since they make my pouch feel better when I'm real tight. I know banders are not supposed to do slider foods, but honestly, I'm not eating much, and it's been like soup and protein drinks so.
I hope this is the beginning of a trend, meaning, I hope the pounds continue to fall off. I'd love to get down to 170 soon and then my first big goal will only be 10 pounds away. I'm also hoping that once I loose a little more, my band will loosen up.
Anyway. I'm ecstatic today and I have a feeling, that tonight's going to be a good night. Do you know that song? I love that one!!!
Gotta go......Have a good day everyone!!

Recent NSV

Okay, so after the last blog of constant complaining, I thought I should post some positive things. And also wanted to say to any of you reading that even with some of these ailments I'm experiencing right now, I still love my band and don't regret for a single moment that I did it. I just like to figure out what is wrong and fix it or prevent it if I can and I don't want to get an unfil if it's not necessary which I don't feel it is.

Anyway, so it looks like I am down 45 pounds, but will wait till Monday, weigh in day to be sure. I would have thought it would be an even bigger weight loss considering what my food intake was over the weekend. Let me give you an idea:

B - Iced Coffee Starbucks (must have coffee each morning to function)
1 McDonald's Yogurt Parfait

L - Steamed Rice 1 Cup

D- Cup of soup

That is about what I ate all weekend with the exception of the last nights dinner.

Anyway, on to my NSV:

---Hubby loves to take pictures and most of the time I hate every single picture of myself and this time, he was showing me the pictures he took and I loved most of them. I actually thought I looked great. I can't remember the last time I looked at pictures of myself and thought, wow!! I look good!!! I'm not trying to sound conceited, but it feels good to see yourself and not pick yourself apart.

---I, again, lounged around the pool all weekend not feeling uncomfortable an trying to hide behind a cover up. Hubby even took pictures of me at the pool and I picked out 3 or 4 that I actually like.

---I was telling my mom today that I am so happy with the way I look right now that I had set a goal to get down to 160 (about 15 more pounds) and would like to get there, but if I never lost another pound, I'd still be happy and feel good about what I have accomplished. Of course, if my scale stops moving, I'll be complaining for sure, but today, that is how I felt.

Anyway, I think there are more NSV, but I can't think of any right now.

I've Been A Bad Blogger!!

Sorry I haven't been blogging lately. I've been pretty busy and sometimes I feel like I just type the same old thing.

Anyways, to catch up on what I've been busy doing. We went to Vegas again from Sun-Wed and took the kids this time. Spent a lot of time by the pool during the day. The pool had a wave pool and a lazy river and we all had a blast. Took the kids to a comedy, magician show, which they loved and ate out, which my kids also love. They loved seeing all the hotels and stuff.

Anyway, so as you know my hubby and I went to Vegas alone about a month ago and I got so tight and was uncomfortable and had the reflux thing. Well, it happened again!!! It really bums me out because I want to eat with everyone else, but I'm so tight, I end up taking a couple bites and I'm done and feeling terrible. I finally felt better the last night there and we went out for a steak & shrimp dinner. Salad was fine, but only ate a little to save room one bite of shrimp and that doesn't go down so good, a few small bites of steak and a few bites of potato and I'm done. I was happy though because I actually got to enjoy my dinner that night.

So on the ride home, I notice as we are driving up one of the very steep hills, i start getting pain and pressure in my stomach and it's very uncomfortable, like when your sleeping and your back kind of hurts and you can't get comfortable for the life of you. Then I feel like I want to burp and keep trying to make myself burp, then we hit the down slope and I feel some relief and am able to burp a bit. Then it happens again the next hill, so that got me to thinking. Does altitude cause my band to tighten? When we got home, I felt almost back to myself. Still tight, but not uncomfortable. The uncomfortableness is in my back and just below my ribs. Anyway I decided to look at the altitude in Vegas and it's about 2100 ft and where I live, it's about 800 ft. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If this is true, I'm scared to go up to the mountains or fly in an airplane.

So today, I went to lunch with my mom to Olive Garden and had a bowl or soup and we shared a pasta dish, which I took a couple bites and took the rest home, but finished the soup. We sit for about an hour and talk after lunch and so I drink my water, then we go shopping. So about an hour or so after lunch, I start getting that uncomfortableness, not really pain, but extremely uncomfortable, like I want to undo my bra and sit down. I drank some warm water and it helped, and I feel the need to make myself burp. I kept drinking water and it ended up going away, but I'm not sure what it is. Does anyone else experience this? Could it be gas trapped in my stomach and not able to get out so it causes pressure?? I think this might be the cause of the reflux thing too when I have food in my stomach and laying down. Hmmmmmm....

Sorry if this blog seems like a lot of complaining, but I was telling my mom about these things today and she asked if any of my blog friends experience this and I said that I didn't think so, but have never asked, so I'm asking.

Great Weekend, Great Food = Bad Scale

Okay, so I had a great weekend. We went camping, I drank a lot of wine over the course of the weekend. I ate a lot of chips, roasted marshmallows & great desserts. I over indulged this weekend and of course the scale shows. I'm up a pound.

So on the band front. My band is still really tight, but I seemed to eat a little more than normal over the weekend. Probably the fact that I was drinking and was very relaxed, it seemed like my band had a little more room. Plus the fact that I ate a lot of sweets. As soon as I got home, my band seemed to get really tight, Not the oh I hope I don't need an unfill tight, just a reminder that I need to take it easy. Funny how that works. On the way home from camping, we were hungry and we stopped and got an order of Fried Zucchini and french Fry's from a local restaurant. they are so good and huge, so we all split the two orders. I ate only about 5 or so and was feeling like they were hanging around in my throat so I stopped and then the rest of the evening, I was feeling extremely full, my head kept wanting to eat, but I could tell that I would get the reflux thing if I did, so I controlled myself. Today, I've just had my protein drink this morning and I think I'll have another for lunch. I'm still feeling real tight and don't want to overdo it.

I think I'm finally understanding this band thing. I can almost tell when I'm really tight, not sure why yet. I think it just has a mind of its own, but when I'm tight, if I take it easy and do some liquids, I don't get uncomfortable and get the reflux thing. I can almost feel my band now and eat according to how tight it is.

We are going to a friends house for a BBQ and swimming tonight, so I'll take it easy today so I can eat a little bit tonight.

I'm not loosing as much anymore and I know it's because of the food choices I'm making and my lack of regular exercise. I feel like I'm not eating a lot at all, it's just the choices and the amount of calories that I am eating are making up for the amount that I'm eating.

I need to get back to healthier choices and keep up with my kickboxing. I did two days last week and I'm going to do two days this week. Once school starts for the kids, I decided I'm going to try to get to the gym three additional days a week and commit to at least 1/2 hour of weights or cardio in addition to my two days of Kickboxing. I really want to get to 160 or less before my 1 year anniversary. After 1 year, I have to pay for my fills and unfills, so I need to get serious about the next 6 months and getting to a weight that will make me happy. After all, that is why I did this, I need to stop waisting time with poor food choices and get serious.

Other thoughts and NSV

Well, I finally got a chance to catch up on everyone's blogs. Glad to hear everyone is doing great!!!

I had a few NSV that came to mind and I forgot to share in my earlier post.

1. I actually went to Knott's Soak City (waterpark) and walked around in my bathing suit without a cover up and, not a skirted bathing suit which I would normally wear. I bought two new bathing suits and they are both one pieces with my full legs showing. I felt great and felt like I looked good too!!!

2. My 6 month bandiversary was on the 19th. Yeah!!! -43 pounds.

3. My friends couldn't believe my weight loss and kept complimenting me.

4. I feel really good about myself and haven't felt so normal in a long time.

I'm Back...

Hi everyone. I'm back from a wonderful, relaxing weekend in Palm Springs. It was around 110 degrees most days and the timeshare was wonderful. Several great pools, a water slide for the kids and a great wreck room to entertain them when they needed to get out of the sun. We also had a chance to take them to the big water park out in Palm Springs and we had several visitors come out and spend time with us. It was great!!

On the band front, I was quite worried to come home and see what my weight was going to be. My band is just perfect right now. Hasn't been too tight since the Vegas Trip, and it actually loosened ever so slightly to the point where I can eat just about anything (except pizza) and it goes down okay and I get full quick. My worry though, was all the snacks we had for the kids, I had trouble controlling myself when it came to chips, mini doughnuts and ice cream. I didn't bring my protein either, so I would have breakfast everyday, lunch and dinner with snacks, but my band was always working for me and stopping me before I ate too much. I was also having wine almost everyday. So, needless to say, I was worried about gaining too much weight. I waited until this morning to step on the Wii and I'm down another 1.1 pounds. Yeah!!! I'm down to 178.8!!! I'm so excited. I love my band!!!

Now that I'm back for a while, I'd like to set some goals:

I'm going to get back to exercising
**going to the gym for kickboxing and riding my stationary bike a couple days a week

I'm going to go back to drinking protein drinks

Try to eat more fruits and vegetables.

I haven't had a chance to catch up on everyone Else's blogs, but look forward to reading about what has been going on with everyone.

Busy, Busy, Busy...

Well, I've been so busy the last few days getting ready to host Bunco and then going away next week.

It's funny how the scale changes from day to day. I'm back down to 180 today and yesterday I think I was like 181 or 182 or something like that. I really haven't been eating much at all. I'm so glad I didn't need to go get an unfill. I'm very tight and suspect it will hold me for a long time. I don't see me getting anymore fills anytime soon. I'm not really very hungry most of the time, but my head makes me eat, but I haven't been overeating. I'm afraid to eat a lot of things for fear of getting stuck. Also, food seems to stay in my pouch for a long time an then I get thirsty (it will be like an hour after eating or longer) and I drink and then I seem to get a little stuck, but I just wait it out and try to relax and it eventually goes down and then I can drink. I notice when I eat too much, I have a lot of uncomfortableness and a little bit of aching in my upper back area. I remember that feeling from when I was recovering from surgery. I think it means I should have stopped eating sooner. My hair is still falling out Uhhhhhh. I sure hope it stops or I might be bald when I hit goal. I get a little reflux here and there, but I take the reflux med and it takes care of it.

I got bad news this morning that my uncle is in the hospital. It's pretty serious and I'm very close to him. If things don't improve, I will probably put off Palm Springs for a day and go see him in the hospital tomorrow morning. I'm kind of just playing the waiting game right now as they don't know what is wrong yet. He's stable, but not out of the woods.
